The 4th of July

Independence Day isn't exactly a relaxing holiday for the owners of Kiwi Gelato, in fact, it's one of the top 3 busiest days of the year. Dad put me to work on the Sunday before, attempting to get ahead on gelato making. I have my very own apron and hat and am learning how to use the scale and extract gelato, both very fun tasks.
Grandad Layton came down to help us out at the Music Centers traditional Patriotic Pops event. It was very hot that day, so we stopped for a watermelon break.

The geese kind of scare me when they get too close, especially when they hiss. Plus I really ahd to pee and they kept following me!

All and all, we had a very successful 4th of July weekend. I even got to stay up for the fireworks. If everyday was the 4th of July Kiwi Gelato would be rich, rich, rich...unfortunately, it's not!

Bug Day Part 3

Ok, the last of the Bug Day photos, although these last three really have nothing to do with bugs, but rather helicopters. Inside the Cradle Discovery Center, there is a helicopter. You have to wear a helmet to go inside, then you pretend to be a real helicopter pilot fighting forest fires. I was scared last year to take on this adventure, but not this year. I hopped right in!

Bug Day Part 2

Mommy puts me in TIme-Out, just kidding...having fun on the steam engine.

After we visited the train, we joined a pond exploration group. You see me there in the front row, teachers pet. I found super cool bugs in the pond!

"Listening" to Mr. Devin give directions.

I found a mayfly and a baby salamander in the pond. Here is Mr. Devin helping me put my creatures into bug boxes in order to study them before releasing them back into the pond.

Reaching into the pond with me net in hopes of finding even more fun and interesting creatures.

Bug Day @ the Cradle of Forestry

Last Saturday was BUG DAY at the Cradle of Forestry. Mum and I set out and joined in some of the organized bug hunts as well as doing our own thing, i.e., playing on the giant train. I love BUGS! Ms. Fox, the leader, gave us these cool magnifying glasses to help us identify the bugs we found.
Here is Ms. Fox helping me with one of the bugs I found.

Awesome, the giant train, my favorite!

Setting off on the trail, in search of further adventures in the forest.

Opening Night at the Brevard Music Center

It was threatening to rain, shocker, so I donned my raincoat and packed my umbrella for opening night at BMC. Kiwi Gelato will have two carts set-up this summer, one on each side of the auditorium, so it's full on from now until August 7th, but that's a good thing!
The line at intermission.

Marshall, Gavriella and Dad were a good team that night.

I wore my tee-shirt with pride!

Swimming @ The Shoals

Another Lovely Friday @ The Shoals

Last Friday was the biggest Shoals showing ever! I think we counted 13 strollers, and one back-pack, so that's at least 14 mom's and numerous kids. It was chaotic and fun, another beautiful day in Transylvania County! Picnic Time!
Catching a ride with Gus and Geraldine, fast, faster!

Hey Charlotte. I'm bigger, so I go first, back off sister!
